What is the Mid-Ohio Valley Fiber Arts Festival? The goal of the Mid-Ohio Valley Fiber Arts Festival is to celebrate textile-based arts and traditional arts of Appalachia. We want to bring awareness of fiber products to the public. The clothing we wear today is made from natural fibers (such as cotton, wool, and linen) or synthetic fibers (such as nylon, rayon and polyester). The Fiber Arts Festival will showcase the natural fibers and how they are used in everyday activities. An introduction to the fiber arts with interactive demonstrations in spinning, weaving, natural dyeing processes, felting, knitting and crocheting will be available at this year’s festival. In addition, visitors can explore a new world of animals with showings from alpacas, rabbits, and llamas! There are handmade goods including painted yarn, alpaca toys, original lace, shawls, sweaters, hats, mittens, soaps, rugs, knitting accessories, felted figurines, and more! The event hours are Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $3 per person and children under 12 years get in free at the Junior Fair Building, Washington County Fairgrounds. Other locations participating in this year's Festival include: The Castle, The Toy and Doll Museum, The Anchorage, The Woolen Willow and Campus Martius Museum. Free shuttle service will be provided to all locations for program holders. Vendors of fibers, fiber-related equipment, fiber-processing supplies and instruction books, or finished fiber or fiber-related products are invited to participate in this event. Exhibitors of fiber animals who wish to sell products must reserve vendor space. We need to make arrangements for animals, please provide that information at time of registering.
